Legislative Committee ~ The Legislative Committee shall keep abreast of, and advise the
Association of, current or pending legislation of interest or concern of the Assisted Living
Residence industry. This committee recommends legislative priorities and actions to the Board
and follows activity during session. There are usually 2-3 meetings during the year and
frequent conference calls during legislative session.
Education Committee ~ The Education Committee shall advocate for and promote the
highest possible standards of training for operators and staffs of Assisted Living Residences.
The committee shall be responsible for planning and implementing course content at CALA
educational conferences and shall coordinate the same with the Convention Committee. The
committee shall also advise the CALA newsletter editor regarding educational content of the
newsletter.
Membership Committee ~ The Membership Committee shall plan and implement membership
strategies for the Association. These strategies shall consider the recruiting of new members
and the retention of existing members. The committee shall advocate for strong membership
benefits and shall advise the Board of Directors of issues that affect the accomplishment of
these goals.
Communications Committee ~ The Communications Committee shall advise and assist the
Board of Directors in editing and production of newsletters, fliers, brochures and other printed
material and shall oversee the development and implementation of editorial policies of all CALA
publications. The committee shall be concerned with the quality and image to be projected in
any medium in which CALA may be presented.
Convention/Event Committee ~The Convention/Event Committee shall plan and coordinate
conferences,conventions and events which CALA may conduct from time to time. The
committee shall concern itself with the details and logistics involved with running a conference,
convention or event and shall work closely with the Education Committee, which shall oversee
course content. There are and shall quarterly meetings during the year and occasional
conference calls.
Finance Committee ~The Finance Committee shall monitor the financial integrity of CALA. 
The committee shall plan a balanced annual budge for the Association and shall present the
same to the Executive committee prior to the Annual meeting.  The budget shall consider both
projected income and expense.  The Executive Committee will recommend approval to the
Board of Directors or shall return it to the Finance Committee with suggested revisions.  The
Committee shall also prepare quarterly financial reports for the Board of Directors.  The
Finance Committee shall be chaired by the CALA Treasurer.
